Sitting Up Like A Big Boy!

Harrison is growing way too fast. He looks like a little boy now. Therapy has really paid off for him and I'm one proud momma. He's attending "therapy boot camp" this week at Easter Seals for an hour each day. Tuesday was my first time to drop him off somewhere other than my parent's house. It was a little hard, but I've become really close with his therapist and that makes it so much easier to hand him over and walk away. Easter Seals is an AMAZING facility!! She usually comes to us once a week, but we're trying something new. She told me today he does so much better at the center. He loves to be nosey and flirt too. We'll start two a days next week, one at home and one at the center. I'm SO proud of our son!!

Upcoming Meeting

Scoot and I are so excited about an upcoming discussion at UAMS. We will be discussing pain meds that are used for long term vented infants. This includes continuous drips and also methadone tapers to combat withdrawal from narcotics. Harrison was on a morphine drip and methadone and did great with both. He showed very little signs bc of the tapering and he won't suffer any long term effects from it.  Babies use to suffer without these durgs and thankfully, there's been so much research done that proves it's very beneficial. Dr.'s didn't know back then bc preemies couldn't communicate their pain. I'm also excited about the ANGELS UAMS Annual Report for 2010. Our story will be featured!

Farm Fun

We spent last weekend at the farm. Harrison absolutely LOVED the water! He got to see what having fun is really all about. Granny and Grandpa decided to build a pool back in 1984. BEST DECISION EVER!! I have spent countless hours with my cousins and friends in this pool. Now Harrison will make great memories here too! I use to force my parents and grandparents to "watch me, watch me" as I did tricks off the diving board. My sweet grandpa would always put rafts out and crank up the umbrella for me and my friends. Lots of memories at this sweet spot and many more to come. 

It doesn't get much cuter than that!! Brendee got Harrison his first speedo.

 Granny and her bestie, Betty. They're childhood friends and have stayed close throughout the years. She lost her husband to cancer too. Mrs. Betty came this past weekend for a visit.

We spent Sunday afternoon at Meme and Paw's place. They also have a farm in Pottsville. I think it's around 1,000 acres! I can't wait for Harrison to play there. My grandfather is 85 and still works the farm everyday. He has every animal you can imagine.

Paw and our dog Meg. He gave her to us 4 years ago. She's so smart and perks her ears up when we get off the Pottsville exit.

My precious Meme. I can't say enough good things about her. She loves pushing Harrison around in the stroller. She got this for him bc it's hard for her to carry him. She broke her shoulder 3 years ago.

Uncle David stopped by for a visit. Prissy never leaves his sides. She was so sweet to Harrison.

No News Is Good News

No news is good news. There was no change from last months CT SCAN. yay! There's still exta axial fluid on his brain, but it's not creating any pressure and his ventricles look the same. We will keep a close eye on his behavior and will have another CT next month. We could be doing this every month for awhile. His little body needs to absorb that extra fluid so we can avoid a shunt. Dr. O'Brien couldn't give me an exact time frame to shunt if the fluid doesn't absorb. I pray that it will resolve and we can move forward and not worry about it constantly. I know it's fixable, but the thought of it gives me anxiety. Thank goodness for lexapro! Thank you for your prayers and please continue to pray that the fluid will absorb.

 I love this pic. Scoot can always get him going! He loves to tear the paper on the bed with his feet. On another note, Harrison is doing pretty good with solids. He just finished 5 days of sweet potatoes and he started sweet carrots today. This boy loves to eat!!

Daddy's Day

We celebrated Father's Day at our house this year with my mom and dad, Mallory, and Jr. My mom threw down in the kitchen! Thanks mom for your hard work and keeping Harrison last night so we could go out. We got my dad, Lu, and my grandpa recordable books from Hallmark. They're so neat and Harrison will always get to listen to their voice.  My dad gave his Cannon Rebel to my mom and now I'm "borrowing" it from her. Here's a few I took today. I used a 50 mm lense. I've got a lot to learn, but here's my first attempt. Harrison was being a wiggle worm.
