Mini Journal

Here are my FB status updates from announcing my pregnancy until the day we were discharged. Wow...what a rollercoaster. So grateful for our little miracle micro-preemie. You can see God's blessings throughout this post. I didn't journal during our NICU stay, but posted on FB like crazy. Glad I was able to retrieve these.

I'm 15 weeks pregnant and feeling great! Please pray for a healthy pregnancy! (Thu, 22 Jul 2010 00:26:33 GMT)

A For a brief moment we held one of God's small wonders in our hands, then gently returned our little angel to him. We are celebrating and remembering our sweet baby girl this weekend. She would have been two. (Fri, 17 Sep 2010 19:11:03 GMT)

Harrison will be delivered today. I'm completed dialated... Hoping to get another round of steroids at 2:00. Love y'all!! Please PRAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Fri, 08 Oct 2010 08:00:47 GMT)

Your prayers are working! God is so good! Please pray that he'll stay put throughout the night! The nurses are amazed that he's still in there, considering I'm fully dialated. Keep praying! (Sat, 09 Oct 2010 00:25:21 GMT)

Harrison Luther Hardin was born 10-10-10 at 5:44 am! He weighs 2 lbs and 2 oz and he is doing great so far! I love him so much! (Sun, 10 Oct 2010 11:37:16 GMT)

Update on our sweet baby boy, Harrison: Everything seems to be steady and stable right now. Once again, God is so good! Harrison is one tough little boy! He has an echocardiogram today. Please continue to pray for our precious baby. We know that he's in for a long stay, but he's in great hands. Please know your continued prayers have made a HUGE difference. (Tue, 12 Oct 2010 10:34:51 GMT)

The results of the echocardiogram and brainscan performed today had come back with some issues for Harrison. Issue #1 was "brain bleeding". Issue #2 was a vessel into/out of the heart that did not close off the way it should.

Please pray for Harrison (1) that the brain bleed is only a Category 2 as Dr. Thomas believes, and (2) that the vessel closes on its own. Love u all. (Wed, 13 Oct 2010 01:56:31 GMT)

Please pray that Harrison stays off the vent. He's had many apnea episodes today. (Sat, 16 Oct 2010 01:22:55 GMT)

Harrison had to go back on the vent early this morning. He's exhausted and needs a break. Dr. Thomas said this is typical for 26 weekers. Please pray Harrison will gain enough strength to come off later next week and continue breathing on his own. We love our baby so much!! (Sat, 16 Oct 2010 19:12:28 GMT)

Harrison has been steady and stable today. They had to turn his oxygen up on the vent this morning, but have since lowered it. He's resting peacefully. They will try taking him off the vent later this week. Please pray specifically that he won't get an infection, he'll learn to feed well, and he'll be strong enough to breathe without the vent. Scooter changed his first diaper.:-) (Sun, 17 Oct 2010 23:08:30 GMT)

Harrison continues to make progress each day! He weighs 2 pounds-3 ounces. His nurse gives him 1/2 teaspoon of breast milk every six hours and that will increase this weekend. I've changed lots of diapers and he even peed on me! Scoot and I are so proud of our baby boy! God continues to answer our prayers. Please specifically pray that Harrison will do well when weened off the vent this weekend. Love u all! (Wed, 20 Oct 2010 22:02:02 GMT)

I get to hold Harrison for the first time today! I'm soooo excited! (Thu, 21 Oct 2010 20:24:56 GMT)

Four years ago today, I married my high school sweetheart in Maui, Hawaii. Happy Anniversary Scoot! (Sat, 23 Oct 2010 10:43:09 GMT)

Harrison weighed 2 pounds 4 ounces last night! However, his blood gas test was abnormal, but better this morning. They increased his vent settings and the last test came back much better. Please specifically pray that Harrison's blood gas tests will improve so he can come off the vent. Pray that he'll be strong enough to breathe on his own and not be reintubated again! Thank u for your prayers! (Sat, 23 Oct 2010 15:52:59 GMT)

I need y'all to pray so hard for Harrison tonight. He's had a rough evening...they're running a bunch of tests right now to see if there's an infection. (Tue, 26 Oct 2010 23:41:45 GMT)

Harrison's day was much better! He always opens his eyes when I walk in the door. He's getting a little more than a teaspoon of breast milk every 3 hours, instead of every 6 hours. Harrison weighs 2 pounds and 6 ounces. His lung development is still struggling, but very normal for 26 weekers. Please specifically pray that his lungs get a lot stronger. That's where he's having the most trouble right now. (Thu, 28 Oct 2010 02:07:55 GMT)

Harrison had a WONDERFUL day! Your prayers are working! He's tolerating 2 teaspoons of milk as of tonight. So proud of him! Please keep all the precious babies in the NICU in your prayers too! (Fri, 29 Oct 2010 02:29:29 GMT)

A Y'all pray for sweet Harrison! He's had a rough afternoon. I only held him for 20 minutes bc he started desatting over and over. His little lungs are still so weak. Xray came back very hazy. PLEASE PRAY SO HARD! (Sun, 31 Oct 2010 21:35:15 GMT)

We're celebrating Harrison's weight gain...2 pounds and 15 ounces! He's doing very well with his feeds. He had another rough day, but this is expected. He's finally resting well tonight. Harrison has the BEST prayer warriors! Thank y'all so much! Pray so hard for his little lungs to get stronger!!!! (Tue, 02 Nov 2010 02:48:23 GMT

Your prayers are working! Harrison had a better day. Still desatting, but not as bad. He has a tpt line, which allows the milk to bypass the stomach and go directly into the intestines. This will hopefully help with the large amount of desats. His little lungs are still struggling, so keep praying extra hard for that. Please continue to pray for all the NICU babies too. (Wed, 03 Nov 2010 01:18:31 GMT)

Harrison had a really good day! I need y'all to start praying now! Harrison started steroids today to prep his lungs for extabation. Hopefully, if he doesn't get an infection and vital signs are good, he'll be extabated (taken off the vent) next week! I know Harrison can do it! (Thu, 04 Nov 2010 23:15:56 GMT)

Harrison continues to AMAZE us! He's getting extabated TOMORROW bc his vitals are so good. Please speciically pray that when the nurse takes the vent out, Harrison will take big deep breaths! I know he can do it! Thank y'all! (Fri, 05 Nov 2010 23:49:22 GMT)

We have to wait one more day for Harrison to be extabated. Please keep praying! (Sat, 06 Nov 2010 18:01:41 GMT)

Harrison is OFF the vent and stable! God continues to answer our prayers! Please pray that he'll stay off for good. We're so PROUD of our precious baby boy! (Sun, 07 Nov 2010 16:45:32 GMT)

Harrison is one month today! We're so proud of our precious son. (Wed, 10 Nov 2010 12:56:44 GMT)

Martha, that's probably one of the most promising things I've ever heard. I can't wait to see what God has in store for our little man. He has a tpt feeding tube that bypasses the stomach and goes directly to the small intestine. It will be removed on Wednesday, and the milk will go thru the OG tube to the stomach. Please pray that he'll be able to digest it w/o problems. Thank u for being an amazing prayer warrior! (Sat, 13 Nov 2010 23:35:31 GMT)

Harrison had another great day. We continue to count our blessings each day. We LOVE his nurses, doctors, respiratory therapist SO MUCH! UAMS is AMAZING! Harrison's feeds increased again today. Wednesday is a big day with the tpt tube removal, so keep praying. Love y'all! I met a NICU mommy with twin boys a few days ago. It's so nice to have someone in the same situation. (Tue, 16 Nov 2010 02:28:08 GMT)

March of Dimes asked us to share our story on tv tomorrow! We will be interviewed at 7:30 am on KARZ, the ch 4 affiliate. So excited! (Tue, 16 Nov 2010 19:07:10 GMT)

Remembering our baby girl today and honoring our precious son. It's National Premature Awareness Day! (Wed, 17 Nov 2010 12:27:11 GMT)

Harrison is so blessed to have the best doctors and nurses! They continue to give him the best care and put me at ease. It makes spending 24/7 in the NICU so much easier. Harrison continues to make great progress! I'm so amazed by his strength and determination. Please specifically pray that he'll learn to suck, breathe, and swallow all at the same time! I know he can do it! Also, pray that infection will stay away. (Tue, 23 Nov 2010 01:11:50 GMT)
 T
hanksgiving is extra special today. I get to spend it with my precious, HEALTHY baby boy. We are so, so thankful to GOD and the skilled Nurses and Dr.'s at UAMS for this miracle. When I walked in today,
Harrison was wearing a dinosaur onesie! He gets to wear clothes now bc his body temperature is stable. Another blessing to be grateful for! Happy Thanksgiving! (Thu, 25 Nov 2010 22:23:32 GMT)

Oh happy day! Harrison graduated to the Storks Nest unit down the hall. It's the next step since he's doing so well. His room has a shower, flatscreen, and lots more room. Very VIP! :-) (Sat, 27 Nov 2010 00:29:37 GMT)

My baby boy is breathing on his OWN! No more nasal cannula!!!! Please pray that it will remain off and Harrison will take big, deep breaths on his own. Our God continues to answer our prayers. (Wed, 01 Dec 2010 19:54:48 GMT)

Researching pediatricians in Little Rock. Any suggestions??? Harrison will go to a high risk Dr at Children's, but he has to have a seperate PCP. (Thu, 02 Dec 2010 14:35:09 GMT)

Turn it to KARZ, the CH 4 affiliate! Mallory is going to talk about Harrison and show pics! Can't wait!! (Fri, 03 Dec 2010 14:18:02 GMT)

I need y'all to pray right now! Harrison is having trouble tonight. He's having really bad reflux issues. He had to go back on the nasal cannula too. They're running labs and did an xray. Please pray that's he's not getting sick. (Mon, 06 Dec 2010 01:22:24 GMT)

All test came back NORMAL! No signs of infection either. PTL! Keep praying for our precious son. He's going to stay on the nasal cannula for now. I don't see it as a setback at all. He's worn out and needs a little help breathing. It has made a world of difference. Hopefully, the reflux will get better too. They said from the beginning this was going to be a roller coaster and it IS!! (Mon, 06 Dec 2010 04:51:51 GMT)

Please pray for my precious baby. He's having apnea episodes, desats, and dropping heart rate. Also testiing for infection. (Wed, 08 Dec 2010 19:13:27 GMT)

I erased my last status...Talked to the Dr. And Harrison's white blood cell is normal..PTL! However, his CRP levels are too high. This involves inflammation in the body. Dr. Pomtree thinks it's high bc of immunizations. If it's still high in a few days, he'll most likely get a spinal tap. So please pray that his CRP levels go back to normal. NICU nurses, please leave me a comment about CRP and what u think. (Thu, 09 Dec 2010 15:11:34 GMT)

Harrison had a great day! He loved spending time with his Grandpa and Brendee will be here tomorrow. I couldn't do this without them! The caffeine took care of the apnea. Praying that his CRP is back to normal on Saturday! (Fri, 10 Dec 2010 01:18:59 GMT)

Today is a great day! First, it's Harrison's 2 month bday and he's having a really good day. Second, my girlfriends gave us the entire CHICCO travel system! I love it and can't wait to strap Harrison in and bring him HOME! Love y'all and thanks so MUCH! (Fri, 10 Dec 2010 19:16:10 GMT)

Harrison's test came back normal! I'm so amazed by our little boy and the power of prayer! Thank u prayer warriors! Our God is awesome! I'm going to try to sleep for the first time all week! :-) my heart is so full! (Sat, 11 Dec 2010 12:35:24 GMT)

Needs a house cleaner! Any suggestions? (Fri, 17 Dec 2010 20:22:39 GMT)

Harrison will stop caffeine today! Please pray he will handle this change. (Wed, 29 Dec 2010 18:23:15 GMT)

Harrison is off oxygen! So far so good. Please pray that he'll stay off for good. (Tue, 04 Jan 2011 18:44:11 GMT)

Harrison's feeding tube is OUT! First day to try all 8 feeds and he's still off oxygen. Say a little prayer for him. (Sat, 08 Jan 2011 17:57:56 GMT)

He PASSED! (Mon, 10 Jan 2011 20:34:19 GMT)

After 93 days in the NICU, Harrison is coming home today! We are so thankful and blessed. Your prayers, messages, and support have been appreciated more than you know! We are so EXCITED! (Thu, 13 Jan 2011 16:07:46 GMT)

Our first night was a success! Harrison def knows he's in a different place. He keeps looking all around. The home health nurse came this morning and all is well! (Fri, 14 Jan 2011 17:02:43 GMT)
