High Risk Newborn Clinic Check-Up

Harrison had his first appointment with the high risk newborn clinic at ACH this morning. The clinic is made up of Neonatologist from ACH and UAMS. I visited with a mom of a 24 weeker in the waiting room. Poor baby boy was born in September and still on oxygen...I thanked God for giving us a healthy, 26 weeker right after our conversation. I also thanked HIM for relieving our sweet baby girl who might of had a very tough life. The Neonatologist did an extensive exam. Everything looked great except his head circumference. He's in the 90-97th percentile. This concerned her bc of the brain bleed at birth. She immediately ordered a head ultrasound. The ventricles are still slightly dialated and fluid is still present. This is all part of the resolution process and they didn't seem concerned. Next, a physical therapist did an evaluation. We need to do more tummy time, arm strengthening exercises, ad head turning. Harrison prefers to look to the left. Finally, a nutritionist consulted with us. She said Harrison's growth looks great and needs to take atleast 42 ounces a day. This boy loves to eat! Harrison will start rice cereal at 4 months and veggies at 5. YAY! I'm hoping by then we'll stop thickening!! We have one more swallow study in June. We are so blessed to have ACH right down the road!

ACH STATS:
Weight: 50-75th Percentile
Length: 25-50th Percentile
Head C: 90-97th Percentile
These stats differ from yesterday. They use a different scale than Dr. Roach.
