Harrison received his last round of Synagis (RSV shots) today. I'm SO grateful my insurance covers this bc of his birth weight and chronic lung disease. It amazes me on how many insurance companies do NOT cover the Synagis shots. I think it's horrible that not everyone who meets the criteria for Synagis gets it. It is known to cut the rate of RSV by 50% and in those who do get RSV, the RSV isn't as severe. The cost of it is OUTRAGEOUS! Ours is $1500 a vial-not dose. I think he gets 2 or 3 vials based on his weight, so that's 4500 a dose and he's had 4 rounds since January. Thank goodness for insurance as we only pay a $30.00 copay! No more shots until next week!
